walk with me

medicalschool:

A human blood sample showing red cells, white cells, platelets (colored yellow/green) and fibrin (light brown). The image was captured by field emission scanning electron microscope.

Amazing. These Red spheres are what keep your whole body oxygenated, and is commonly understood synonymously with life. And the White spheres protect you from the hundreds of threats and insults your body endures each day.

“Why do we imagine God to be so unmoved by our heart-felt attempts at obedience? He is, after all, our heavenly Father. What sort of father looks at his daughter’s homemade birthday card and complains that the color scheme is all wrong? What kind of mother says to her son, after he gladly cleaned the garage but put the paint cans on the wrong shelf, “This is worthless in my sight”? What sort of parent rolls his eyes when his child falls off the bike on the first try? There is no righteousness that makes us right with God except for the righteousness of Christ. But for those who have been made right with God by grace alone through faith alone and therefore have been adopted into God’s family, many of our righteous deeds are not only not filthy in God’s eyes, they are exceedingly sweet, precious, and pleasing to him.”

- Kevin DeYoung, The Hole in our Holiness

BitterSweet

it is only bitter, because it was once sweet

That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring-not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”-in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist. In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.” He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.” But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

“God prepares us for one stage of life while in the midst of another, and I thought of you and our time in Cambodia. God only knows how he will use that time in our lives later on…all our days are numbered, my 큰딸….hope you are making the most of your time at NEU!”

the blessings that God joyfully and willingly envelops us with
at the price of being beaten, broken, wounded, and killed
is something that I just cannot comprehend,
and it is something that overwhelms me with awe and wonder,
that my heart would ache for and fall deeper in love with such a savior!

why do i do what i am doing again?

oh right, i train now so that I might learn to love others better later..

but that doesn’t mean i can’t and shouldn’t love others well now

sometimes i feel like i put my life on pause.. it feels like i’m only partly alive

i need to practice more of this..
i’m letting my work change me into a person that I don’t like.

“The Drop Box” - Brian Ivie

toothpaste for face wash

After sleeping 4 short hours, I stepped into the shower today at an early 7am. I began to think through the pharmacological therapies for Chronic Heart Failure, Acute Decompensated Heart Failure, and Ischemic Heart Disease to review for my therapeutics exam tomorrow - going from 1st line to 4th line therapies, add on therapies, drug names & dosing, and contraindications/ADEs.. After brushing my teeth, I began to squeeze out white face wash into my hand.. when suddenly I realized I had squeezed out white toothpaste. I only noticed this difference, because Colgate toothpaste doesn’t lather very well ..

i almost washed my face with toothpaste, because of Ischemic Heart Disease.. a sad reality. haha

For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness..
